Technologent announces the availability of ZFS, Open Storage and Virtualization Workshops
LAKE FOREST, CA, May 1, 2009 - Technologent, a nationwide Solutions Integrator, announced the introduction of a series of workshops focused on ZFS, Open Storage and Virtualization. Storing information and managing data storage is critical to a company's success. Fortunately, there are many options available for both the actual storage and the location of that storage. Technologent is providing a venue to discuss the options available with a series of hands-on, participatory, white board workshops. The workshops, which run from 2.5 to 7 hours, can be customized and personalized to individual customer needs. Samples of the types of workshops that are available are listed below.
ZFS Workshop (7 Hours): This workshop looks at ZFS as a filesystem / volume manager replacement and explores what ZFS really is…a Storage Virtualization Glue technology that enables new generations of storage design in data centers. This workshop details the foundations of ZFS and the storage architectures enabled by ZFS. In addition, petascale geoclusters of storage, new ways of looking at compression to enhance performance and SSD integration strategies are discussed. The daily administration hands-on session includes replication, properties, snapshots and pools.
Open Storage Concepts (2.5 Hours): In this workshop we discuss how backup and archive may be antiquated concepts, while looking at secure storage designs and revision control. New storage design approaches, how to leverage existing equipment and add new services and how to drive down storage costs through consolidation are included in this session.
Virtualization Workshop (2.5 Hours): In this workshop, the foundation of a Tiered Virtualization management strategy is explored. In addition, other uses for virtualization, such as the creation of self-healing servers, are introduced. Various virtualization technologies such as logical domains, hard partitions and binary translation/full emulation will be discussed.
Desktop Virtualization (2.5 Hours): In this workshop, various types of architectures for desktop virtualization are discussed, including the delivery of the desktop as a service and remote access architectures. In addition, gradual migration strategies that will allow users time to adjust and integrate new processes are introduced.
