The event was co-sponsored with the CHIEF (California Health Information Executive Forum) group and was held on Friday, December 4th, 2009  The keynote speaker for the event was Richard Afable, MD, CEO of Hoag Hospital, on the CEO perspective of IT. Other CIO speakers were Ben Williams, CIO, Catholic Healthcare West and Warren Chandler, CIO, City of Hope Medical Center. The moderator for the event was program co-chair Scott Joslyn, CIO, MemorialCare and Founder/Leader of the CHIEF group.

“Healthcare is an important initiative for Technologent.” said Lezlie Gallaway, CEO of Technologent. “Technology partners who understand the complexities of the healthcare market and who can provide valuable solutions with a focus on ease of use and low maintenance have a considerable competitive advantage in driving new revenue from the medical sector.”

Technology offers a compelling cure for many of the tough challenges facing today's healthcare organizations, including expanding industry regulations, heightened patient safety concerns, staffing shortages and a constant need to contain costs. Broad use of Healthcare Information Technology has the potential to improve healthcare quality, prevent medical errors, increase the efficiency of care provision and reduce unnecessary healthcare costs, increase administrative efficiencies, decrease paperwork, expand access to affordable care and improve population health. The benefits of appropriate sharing of health information among patients, physicians and other authorized participants in the healthcare delivery value chain are nearly universally understood and desired.

Technologent co-sponsored the event with ThinIdentity and Sun Microsystems. The mission of ThinIdentity is to improve caregiver workflow, and in doing so improve patient care. The ThinIdentity solution is a revolutionary new virtual desktop infrastructure approach that was designed from the ground up to achieve this mission. ThinIdentity is leading the way with proprietary technology built to deliver industry leading and cost-effective market solutions targeted toward healthcare environments.
